Zogby Poll: Kurita Outperforms Ford Against Hilleary, Corker
This is posted (10/28) in the Chattanoogan, www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_74945.asp

According to the most recent Zogby Interactive Poll on the Tennessee U.S. Senate race, state Sen. Rosalind Kurita is the strongest Democratic candidate for the general election, the Kurita campaign said.

Against both Van Hilleary and Bob Corker, Kurita performed better than Ford. In fact, against Corker - the candidate who has raised the most money to date - Kurita is in a statistical dead heat, the poll said.

The poll showed Ford doing better against Republican Ed Bryant.

It has Kurita down 2 percent to Corker and Ford down 5 percent.

Kurita is down 8 percent to Hilleary and Ford is down 9 percent.

Bryant is 17 percent ahead of Kurita and 11 percent up on Ford. (Ugh, even my late father thought that Bryant is a loony tune.) Come to think of it, he voted for Bredesen instead of Hilleary in the last Governor's race.

1. Cool
I have heard a lot of good things about her. If she wins the nomination, I hope to see a lot more from her.

2. In the long run
I'll be happy with either of them. Where does she stand with Iraq though? I heard an interview with her on a local Nashville program called "The Round Table" where she was asked about the DSM and pretty much shrugged it off and said there shouldn't be an investigation because "it would make the troops look bad." I agree with her on all the other issues though and she and Ford I think are on the same page on a lot of issues. I was wondering if she has changed where it concerns Iraq or not.

3. Kurita: “We can’t justify expending American lives for oil,”

ROGERSVILLE—Democrats have an excellent chance to win the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Republican Bill Frist, according to State Senator Rosalind Kurita.
<snip>
She said the Democrat party needs to reclaim its role as the party that represents the middle class and the best way to do that is to send “real people who have had to live real lives” to Washington as elected representatives.

The state senator said the district she represents includes military personnel and families assigned to Fort Campbell and she said she believes the war in Iraq is an important issue.

“We can’t justify expending American lives for oil,” Kurita said.

<snip>

The state senator also said she is opposed to trade agreements, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement approved by congress several years ago and the proposed Central American Free Trade Agreement, which she said may benefit the profit margins of corporations and may help other nations but will not benefit the average American worker. “We have to take care of our own,” Kurita said.
