West Tennessee Trooper Archie Story says he filed the complaint in January and five days later received notice he was being fired. Story has been a trooper for nine years.
Highway Patrol officials dispute Story's claim and say his termination is related to responding late to two accidents in November.
The Highway Patrol has been under scrutiny recently.
Current and former troopers have said political pressure, campaign donations and a culture of favors for the powerful have dominated the Highway Patrol for decades.
