1. support Corker for the other reason, too |
|
He's the only non-fundy in their primary. It would be nice to not have that as an issue in the general.

The Republicans are enjoying lackluster numbers and yet that doesnt seem to help Ford gain some numbers in the polls. I wonder what would do the trick?

4. Ya gotta wonder, don't you.... |

I love TN but sometimes the people in this state make you want to bang your head on a wall...
Just WTF else has to happen to make them give up their addiction to Republicans who continually screw them over??? Thank goodness I live in a small rural county that is old-school Blue. People here are the first to feel the harm done by New Deal Busting Republicans.

5. SurveyUSA has Corker winning the nomination. Thats good for Ford. |
|
There hasn't been a black senator elected in a southern state yet. That's a hard statistic to overcome. If Corker wins the nomination, fundies stay home and Ford has a good chance of winning. http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportPopup.aspx?g=c99a6ade-5af2-4648-8337-d0b411217d52&q=28028

6. Why would fundies stay home? |
|
If Corker is so popular in Tennessee and he's a Republican(ouch! I'm going to feel that in the morning), then he has a chance. What would fundies not like about Corker?

7. Corker is more moderate, pro-life, etc |
|
IMO, there is a certain chunk of the electorate that would sit out the election rather than vote for a pro-life candidate, regardless of the R after his/her name. How big this group of voters is, remains to be seen. The polls I have looked at usually show Ford doing the best against Corker, therefore, I hope Corker wins. WHY Ford does better against Corker is anyone's guess, but I would think it is due to fundies sitting out of the election.
If you look at recent hypothetical matchups between Bush and Kerry, Kerry wins big. Not because tons of voters are switching their vote (though some are) from Bush to Kerry, but because so many people would rather not vote at all than vote for Bush.
I think there is a good chance that republican turnout will be low this year, and I hope that dems can take advantage of that. TN seems like a good opportunity.

8. You may want to think again before voting for Corker |
|
Fords own campaign polls are showing Corker with a substantial lead over the other two as of last week...there has never been any doubt in my mind the Corker will win the primary

9. Ford's family name carries some baggage in TN |
|
Some of his family members have engaged in some less than ethical behavior and this has reflected on him. Personally I am willing to take a chance on him. He still looks like the best bet for TN to me. He gets my vote if something doesn't change.
