Williamson County Senate candidates disappointed in early voting turnout

This is a Republican hotbed ...

Although they are involved in one of the hottest local races, Republican state Senate candidates running in Williamson County are bemoaning low early voting turnout in the GOP-heavy district.

Five Republicans are seeking the GOP’s nod for the state Senate seat that encompasses all of Williamson County and the southern-most portion of Davidson County.

While that area has been growing for years, voter turnout has slipped this year, leaving the candidates disappointed while they wait to greet voters at polling places.

As of Thursday, 2,868 people had early voted in Williamson County. In contrast, in 2002, the last non-presidential election, 7,762 people voted early in Williamson County.

1. I'm hoping this trend is in our favor...

I've got a feeling (hope) that many repubs will just stay home during this election. The Cookeville paper's Sunday editorials were full of anti-* adminstration letters, one by a well-known local repub. There are many well-intentioned conservatives out there that are pissed at their party.

3. From red to BLUE in TN......I see it comming.....

However the Pubs are going to pour a lot of money into TN....they can't afford to lose this Senate seatand will fight hard and dirty to keep it...I worry about the voting machines across the state...I know Bush is comming to campaign for Corker.
