Anybody with the Ford campaign? |
|
Was at a football game this past weekend. Saw people wearing stickers that said "Jr. for Senate". Is this how Ford is being marketed? I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It just surprised me to see the word Jr. instead of Ford on the stickers. I thought that the conventional wisdom was that it would be better NOT to draw attention to Ford's father. By the way, there were quite a few people wearing them. Although, probably more wearing Corker stickers. yuck. Still glad to see the visibility effort by the Ford campaign. Usually, football games are the sole province of REpub candidates and Dems ignore them.

2. Ford's father was a U.S. House Representative for many years. |

Junior followed him.
Harold Ford, Jr.'s uncle, state senator, has been arrested on corruption charges and will go to trial soon.
His aunt, Ophelia, was removed from her State Senate seat dure to the contested election replacing hisuncle.
They're a large, political machine in Memphis.

Hi there! Du'er from Massachusetts ... Hope he wins no matter what you want to call him. Met him at the 2004 DNC in Boston ...pretty nice guy until someone called him Barack Obama and he flipped out on them!

It was the uncle that was the concern, not the father. Now, I remember. Anyway, does anybody in Tenn. know about the Jr. marketing thing? Is he using Junior in all of his advertising?

5. No he's not going by Jr..His dad was a US Congressman for years |
|
Then Harold Jr. took over his seat. His dad also had some legal issues, but I can't remember what for. He makes jokes about his family while campaigning, and he talks about the issues. I just know the republicans need this seat so bad, they are going to keep bringing his family into it. I hate that, he'll make a great senator.

6. Today I saw some more "Jr." bumper stickers. We get calls at HQ |
|
asking for "Ford" signs and stickers but so far we're empty-handed.
I do hope that the "Jr." stickers disappear. No gravitas with that. And in parts of TN, being a "Jr." of that family wouldn't be seen as a good thing.
If he can present as his own person, i think he'll do well with some people who might otherwise vote GOP. He's incredibly gifted as a speaker, samrt, articulate, and passionate. People respond to that.

7. The sticker on my car is an oval that reads "Harold Ford, Jr. U.S. Senate! |
|
I've seen those "Jr" ones and I didn't like them.
As for football games, high school games for me, I wear DU t-shirts, I wore Dean for America t-shirts, MOB (Mothers Opposing Bush) t-shirts, buttons of all sorts, CodePink gear - you get the picture. People have asked me if I have extras and if I don't have extra stickers or buttons with me I bring them to the next game or mail them. I've taken the addresses of total strangers in convenience store parking lots and mailed them bumper stickers! I must be an easy mark, lol! :hi:
