FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 05, 2006 TUKE: 'WE'RE HOURS AWAY FROM VICTORY' FORD, DEMOCRATS WIN EARLY VOTE BY WIDE MARGIN
NASHVILLE — Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke today issued the following statement concerning the Early Voting results and the last two days of this fall's elections:
"We're hours away from victory, and we're energized to do the hard work needed to ensure that victory. Governor Phil Bredesen, Representative Harold Ford, Jr., and all of our other Democratic candidates won the Early Vote hands down. Tennesseans set a record with over 860,000 early votes cast. Democrats increased our performance by 35 percent, which is 15 percent better than the Republicans. Shelby County alone increased its Early Vote total by 80 percent over 2002 returns.
"The Early Vote totals are the only numbers that matter in this campaign at this point, and they clearly show that Tennesseans want change in Washington. They know that Harold Ford, Jr. is the only candidate for change, and they are voting for him in record numbers."
(Shelby County is Memphis, heavily Democratic and Ford family home territory)

The Dixon poll had two other races lost towards the winners who won so I wouldn't really trust them. All the other polls had Ford slightly a head or neck and neck. I think he will win but it will be slightly. Like Bush "won" over Kerry but this will probably be for real except those "lost" votes in Tennessee from a week or so ago.

4. Don't know if "likely voters" in polls include "already voted" |
|
If not, it may underrepresent Ford if his supporters are had a higher rate of early voting.

5. I just came back from voting... |

heard several people saying there was record turnout today, "even here in Meigs County"! It's good news to hear. I had a conversation with a couple of guys about the need for paper trails and being sure all votes are counted correctly. Everyone I talk to agrees with this, and thinks there is no reason why we need to know the results immediately.
Tennessee may be turning BLUE!!!!
