So, how is everybody fairing?

I didn't support Ford during the primary, but I was working really hard to try to get out the vote to get him elected to the Senate. A lot of people in my county were. A woman from Sequachie Co. helped us out with phone banking and she was helping to drive our voters to the polls during early voting and on election day.

Yesterday I vacillated between disappointment and anger. Today seems a little bit better, but I'm still angry. I spoke with the band director at my kids' school today and he is still sick. He's an African American man and he said that he got his terrible cold on election night, and he's just sick about the election results. We talked about it for a few minutes and we were both disgusted and angry.

So, my fellow Tennesseans, how are you fairing post election?

1. I was angry

as well and also disappointed that TN remains a RED state. Harold Ford, Jr. was FAR better than Corker. I just hope TN will one day be a blue state. I had some comfort that the race was close up until the end and Corker was sweating it. I also had a little comfort in knowing us Dem's took back the house and the senate.
I hope Ford will run for Governor after Bredesen's term. I have so much respect for Ford and I hope we haven't heard the last of him, especially in the political ring.

2. I know that my ass was draggin' after early voting and then through

election day. I saw so many people who were in the same shape: tired, stressing, and still trying to do what needed to be done! :hug:

This came up when I was talking with the band director today and he told me that he had received a call to remind him of early voting, then another to remind him to vote on election day (both with info. for folks needing a ride to the polls), and that he also had a door knocker in his door with a label stuck onto it (I'm familiar with sticking those labels on) that gave him the info. for where his precinct is and "if you need a ride to the polls, please call ***-****)".

I just can't wrap my head around having a lying, corrupt, race-baiting, weasel for a senator. I suppose I should find some solace that he's not a cat killer?

3. I am hearing

On the news that the woman who starred in the famous "commercial" is confessing that she never knew Harold Ford, nor had she ever heard of him. This does not surprise me, but it does surprise me that this is coming out

I wanted to slap her when she spoke of how it was 'just a fun job' for her, and she didn't feel any responsibility for any impact her role may have had.

She certainly was the perfect bimbo.

5. If You're In Nashville and Want to Feel a Little Better

Drive down Charlotte Pike, past a tiny strip mall about 1/2 mile before Hillwood apartments. There's a HUGE Corker campaign sign that someone spray painted 'fuck' right on top of his name.

9. Ha ha ha! Would love to see that, but it would be a 2+hour drive!

I was getting really pissed about people stealing Ford signs and I was toying with the idea of spray painting SUCKS under Corker on some of his big signs. I may have to go out to check how many of those big, ugly things are still out.:evilgrin:

6. The day after the election

I was busy packing things up and cleaning out our HQ....Naturally I was sad and himmed and hawed weather or not I would do this again...I was so tired and physicaly drained....but my crew was right there doing what they do best, working hard...God Bless them all....

The last few weeks I had a gut feeling especially after the AD came out...yes you probably guessed which one I mean...We might have over come if it had not been for that wink...I had already seen signs of racisim in our county but this I will always believe put the icing on the cake...I checked out the numbers from several Democratic polling places...For was 20% to 30% lower than the other Democratic candidates on the ticket ..oh he beat Corker but it was not the total numbers we needed to put him on top in our County....

I heard on the news Ford is contemplating a run against Alexander when he is up for re-election....Ford couldn't beat Corker he may as well give it up and save his money...The Civil War is still being fought in parts of Tennessee....

I am delighted we did get control congress....but our new leadership best just drop the term bi-partisan from their vocabulary ...if they don't, they just be the ones on the outside looking in next time around...I know this old girl will really have to think hard about voting for another Dino...

There are some local issues that need to be addressed concerning voting and these top our list of things to do be done, by the county party, before the next election.

On Edit...Election eve I notice a group of young people walking around I was leaving but drove to another spot to watch for a while as we still had people inside phone banking....The next morning this same group was standing on street cornors along with our, holding signs...found out later they had been bussed in or flew in from Utah to help Corker...he couldn't even get enough voulenteers localy, we found out later they were from Brigham Young University....Anyone else have some strangers in their area?

10. That ad plus the radio ad plus some really nasty mailers that landed in

our mailbox fed the racist elements no doubt.

I share your feelings about the bi-partisan/Dino thing and I don't think that Ford would have much of a chance with Lamar, sadly.

I had heard that people were being brought in from other states to help Corker. There was a definite spike in out of state plates toward the end of early voting 'til election day and I'm not seeing as many now.

I've been making a mental to do list for local matters, too.

I'm sad about Ford but I'm still happy about the House and Senate.

12. Our work for Ford kept the GOP spending time, resources and $$$ here

so they couldn't spend them in some other races to help their GOP Senate candidates. So, that helped the other Democratic Senate candidates win.

I'm disappointed that Ford didn't win, but I'm glad that we kept a lot of GOP resources tied up here. I know it helped the others.

If we hadn't run a dynamite candidate and worked our tails off for him, they would've shifted everything to the other races.

13. like others, I got a bad cold on election day

and, like others, I'm sorry that TN is still red all over, but not so distressed about Ford since we got the SENATE anyway, and got rid of especially Burns & Allen and Santoornastywhateverfrothyhisnamewas, and did in their presidential aspirations, etc. Am a little concerned where Frist will go next.

Ford's ending his campaign with prayer meetings and anti-gay stances probably would have sent my vote to an alternate party, 'cept I voted early.

I dislike corker on a personal level, but before the primaries I had determined he would more or less vote like Ford. I'm pretty convinced his anti-abortion stance was politically motivated. He's a one-termer, but his daughters will probably get to be friends with the * twins and keep us entertained in the short run.

The great news is that Cohen is in Ford's old seat, and will give us some satisfaction.

I think we have to start now acting more like Democrats, so that the next two years don't sneak past us too quickly. More bumper stickers, please. I would love to see another DU sticker in Hamilton County!

14. I have a friend who teaches an AP class in Hixon. She taped the debates,

the class watched them, discussed them, and then had to write a paper fine tuning their arguments for their preference in a candidate, etc. She had noticed that one of the kids was squirming, then the hand went up and the statement, "I'm tired of religion being infused into politics. I don't care what anyone's religious preference is anymore than I expect anyone to care about mine. When is enough going to be enough." Even the students who had argued the repug points started talking about it and a majority of the kids were fed up with it all. Another shocker for her and for me. There may be hope for the young'uns yet!

Hopefully when the SEC gets done with FrankenFrist he'll be out of the picture for good.

Cohen was a true bright spot in this state!!!

I removed my DU bumpersticker to make room for those of local candidates last spring. I have some rather in your face stickers on now, but I'll try to remember to make room for a DU sticker on there, too. When I had one on my car it was the only one that I ever saw.

I need to pick up some local activities at the end of the year, when I retire from my present job.
I will still need to be employed, but this time, I will be home every night and can participate in local events.

I am looking forward to this lifestyle change very much.
