May relocate to Nashville. What are the best areas to live?
I've been a few times to visit, bot not enough to really get a feel of the place. We'd be moving from Memphis. Our older son has an IEP, so quality schools with a good special ed program are of particular concern.

1. So Sorry I Didn't See This
I can't help you on the schools, sorry.

What part of town you'll be living in depends on how much you'll spend on a house. What are you looking for?

What is your lifestyle? Do you need to be close to the action?

2. The company I work for has an office in Nashville
A lot of people seem to live in Franklin - though I'm hardly an expert on the area. And, you may want to consider your commute. Over the last few years I've made a few trips down there and the rush hour traffic seems to be getting worse.

3. What area of Memphis do you live in now?
What type of "neighborhood" are you looking for? Urban, suburban, semi-rural, rural?

What are your "must haves". Nashville has a lot to offer, but there are many diverse types of neighborhoods & bedroom communities.

4. Best areas
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 06:50 PM by meniscus420
East Nashville village area, 37206, is on the rise. We're left. Belmont Area, 37212 aka Hillsboro village area is awesome if you can afford it. Franklin is red, that's where I lived and attended high school. Williamson county is extremely expensive, and the culture is shallow. Your best bet is to get into the belmont ave and surrounding areas including green hills. If you're renting, East Nashville is the way to go. Always join the listservs and google groups of the places you're interested in so you can get a feel of how they treat lost pets, in my opinion it speaks volumes about the people who live there. Great places will have a lot of "dog found" posts in their group. In Franklin, people just take them to the pound.

5. I live in Nashville, and grew up in Memphis (Collierville)
What are you looking for in terms of schools, amenities, lifestyle?
Belle Meade is the Chickasaw Gardens of Nashville. East Nashville is more funky and eclectic, like Midtown used to be in the 80's and 90's. It's kind of like Cooper-Young in its latest incarnation. Brentwood/Franklin (in Williamson Co., not Davidson) are more like Germantown/Collierville. Green Hills is comparable to east Memphis.
Hope this helps.
