please stop at the McDonald's and tell them to turn Fox News off on their blaring TV set in the dining room.

Please.

I was with my mother there last week and I would have done it, but I had already embarrassed her enough by yelling at the tube and at the bots in the dining room that Fox was lying about Obama hiking their taxes.

I loudly yelled "yeah, ONLY IF YOU'RE MAKING $250,000 OR OVER!"

Mom is 83, the quite type, and a former repub. HOWEVER, she has already voted for Obama! Yay!

- a former Tennessean, now in blue Virginia! ;) :hi:

But WE don't have to listen to that shit when we're trying to eat some breakfast fast food. You totally missed my point!! Why all the caps, btw? Do you think we're that stupid here? Sniff sniff.

We have a right, in spending our money with these establishments, to ask them to turn fucking Fake No-News off! Turn it off, to another station. That's all. We have the right to ask that.

Yes, here's to "the crazy ones" who change the world. Us.

3. Good on your Mom, and good on you, too!!
I know that I live in a backward state, but stating it's a hopeless cause is rather demoralizing. As a former resident you should know what an uphill struggle it is here. We're working hard in my county, for what it's worth...probably just adding a few votes to the popular vote count.

Glad to see that things are better for you in VA! :hi:

4. You're Right! I was thoughtless and am very sorry.

I have embarrassed myself with my thoughtlessness.

And it's NOT a hopeless cause either.

Over the years of relentless emailing I've actually converted a few friends back there, so I know it can be done.

If you ever attend any Dem meetings in Chattanooga, say hi to my activist nephew, Ben Johnson. He always attends them. (He's a tall, very lanky blonde, about 38 now.)

Thanks, lefty.

(Btw, I miss rafting the Ocoee -- some of the most fun I've ever had!)

:)

5. No need to apologize, and I didn't mean to seem stern.
Ben Johnson who has a Mom in the Knoxville area? Who was very active in Dean's campaign in Chattanooga? If that's the one, I haven't seen him in a while, but I did see his lady friend at an Edwards' campaign event a few days before Edwards dropped out. :hi:

If I have the correct Ben, he was great to work with and we had fun at house parties...small world, eh?

6. Boycott MCD's and FauxNews in ET
Edited on Mon Nov-17-08 10:34 PM by doeriver
Go the McDonald's corporate web site and file an online complaint --- the McDonald's in Elizabethton (Northeast) also had Faux News blaring in the new "eco-friendly" McD's that just opened in that town.

These McD's might also be independently owned (somewhat explaining why Faux News was on the loudscreen as opposed to the neutral and helpful Weather Channel) was featured as propaganda at the store you visited...

You would probably stop taking your Mother to McDonald's anyway if you had previously watched either the documentary DVD "Supersize Me" or the "Fast Food Nation" movie.
