L2Ed: Submitting Letters to the Editors - Tennessee 1st Congressional District[

The following contact information is for submitting letters to newspaper editors within the Tennessee 1st Congressional District. A few suggestions for writing a good letter to the editor:

1) write about a current issue, an important undisclosed issue, or best still, respond to an issue recently appearing with your newspaper;

2) use a word processing program for composing your letter to the editor, working your revisions, checking your spelling, and meeting your word count limits;

3) keep in mind that most newspapers will impose a 200 to 300 word limit toward letters to the editor accepted for publication --- go over the specific limits prescribed by an individual and your letter may be edited for length or simply rejected, and;

4) include your name, street address city, state, zip code, email address, and telephone number (with best time to call) for the newspaper to verify you as being the actual author of the letter to the editor that you submitted to the newspaper.
