Rick Perry's Problems With America: Progressivism
Huffington Post 11/9/10
Rick Perry's Problems With America: Progressivism, The 16th Amendment, Woodrow Wilson And The New Deal (VIDEO)

(snip)
PERRY: If you want to know when Washington really got off the track -- the 16th amendment, giving them the opportunity to take your money with a personal income tax. <...>

STEWART: But let me just back that up a second, because there are... very few people, I think, who would go back to a pre-1920s United States, because that movement didn't arise out of nothing. Children worked in factories. Women weren't allowed to vote.

PERRY: I get that --

STEWART: You may get it, but that ain't nothing.

PERRY: But the fact is, then you had the Great Depression, and again -- government program after government program -- that, looking back on it now, didn't work. Big government really has really not helped this country from the standpoint of economically.

There is no doubt he's running for national office.

1. I could only watch a little.
I only watched the first segment last night .... Perry is just so smug and smarmy. And he downright lies. It is just shameless.

So he's saying that Social Security never helped anybody? Medicare hasn't helped? What a disgrace that man is to humanity. :-(

3. I know what you mean - I didn't watch it either
And I watch The Daily Show religiously. I get my news from The Daily Show, but I could not stomach watching it last night.

Rick Perry is a slick opportunist in the same vein as Sarah Palin. It's been said before - he's Sarah Palin without lipstick or heals.

He is a disgusting small minded and evil man. :puke:

5. It is what it is
I thought that John Stewart treated Perry like a fraternity brother. He spoke like "so Rick Perry" and Stewart just looked the other way. Call this guy out on issues - dude, if I am going to watch you then stick a pin in your ego - I hope you are not getting "too big for your britches"

Peace

2. I felt such shame watching him
I was like watching Dubya all over again. Very good with the bullying and the buzzwords but man, that guy is as dumb as a box of rocks.

4. What's more scary is that I think he's even dumber than bush
And that's pretty stupid. Hell, he even came out this week saying bushie spent too much money when he was President. He's keyed into the meme of high federal spending and too many taxes. And the gullible people who voted in this crop of tea party idiots will lap that up.

I would not be a bit surprised if he gets traction for a national spot on the ticket.

And it shames me too. :(
