State will audit Texas technology fund over ties between Perry, donors

AUSTIN – The state auditor is launching an examination of Emerging Technology Fund following reports that private start-up companies whose investors and executives are large contributors to the governor have benefited from the fund.

{snip)
An investigation by The Dallas Morning News found that more than $16 million from the ETF has been awarded to companies with ties to Perry supporters, and that on at least one occasion, a friend of Perry’s managed to still be awarded a grant even after it was rejected by a review panel.

State Auditor John Keel said Wednesday his office will start an audit Dec. 1 and he hopes to have the audit completed by June.

"There’s been a lot of focus and attention on this in the press, all of those things brought us to the conclusion that we need to initiate an audit of the Emerging Technology Fund," Keel said.

John Keel better watch himself, Perry will just have him canned. We'll see just how much white washing of the process goes on.

Perry asks tech fund adviser to consider resigning

(snip)The Dallas Morning News reported, for Tuesday editions, that Gov. Rick Perry's office has asked William E. Morrow to resign in the wake of a Texas Rangers investigation of a stock deal that included Morrow. The review found no wrongdoing.

Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger told the newspaper late Monday that Morrow "has been asked to evaluate whether his continued service on the TETF advisory committee is in the best interest of the program."

(snip)

State Auditor John Keel last week announced his office will review the fund after questions arose over links between contributors to GOP Perry's campaign and companies that get grants.

Perry should also quit the Technology Fund d - he's the one whose involvement definitively not in the best interest of the program!
