No money for TEACHER, But plenty of funding for TOLL ROADS
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 05:31 PM by white cloud

A huge financial obstacle that has delayed full-blown construction of the Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway toll road project in Fort Worth was resolved Tuesday, despite concerns that the complicated arrangement puts the state's gas tax fund at risk.

The Texas Transportation Commission on Tuesday approved a complicated agreement involving a $400 million-plus federal transportation infrastructure loan agreement to help finance the Texas 161 (President George Bush Turnpike western extension) in Irving and Grand Prairie. That project is financially linked to the Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway project, as several agencies have agreed that unused funds from one road can be used to complete the other.

The latest step approved Tuesday is viewed as the final hurdle to using the so-called TIFIA loan for the Texas 161 project -- a move that ensures Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail will also be financed, once an environmental study on the Johnson County portion of the road and a few other remaining steps are complete.

1. Ah, Texas
The same old GOP con, bait and switch. Good Hair stands up and tells the state that if schools are closed and teachers laid off that it's not his or the state's fault. You'd think the Bubbas would catch on to the lies, but no such luck. How do talk to people who can't tell what their own best interests are?
