Progressive Christians call on Rick Perry to repent

I'm proud to say I'm a member of the group that put this together, Dallas Area Christian Progressive Alliance.

We wrote an open letter to Rick Perry, calling on him to repent--a word which means "go a new way"--for the way he's treated the least among us in Texas.

We've put together a petition, and invite people of all faiths (as well as non-believers) to add your names in support of education funding, uninsured children, immigrants and other people that Rick Perry doesn't seem to care about:

We'll be reading it hopefully to the media on Thursday, getting it in a couple of days ahead of Perry's event. Then, our group coordinator is doing a "Twitter revival," releasing bits of our statement in "tweets" during the time of his revival.

It may not get through to Perry, but hopefully, it will empower other people to stand up to these bible-beating freaks with actual scriptural references.
