First the bad news: Today while I was at work my wife sent me some bad news. A transformer blew up in North Austin and destroyed the AC at the Humane Society. With temps climbing, the staff was worried about the safety of the animals in the shelter, so they suspended the adoption fees hoping to save the lives of the dogs and cats in the place.
This is a no-kill shelter, by the way.
The good news: One hour after word went out about the problem, it was standing room only at the shelter with people LINED UP to adopt a new member of their family. Within 3 hours, every animal in the place was gone. No one will die of the heat. Plus, as soon as the place is up and running, they will have more than enough room to take in new animals from the kill shelters in the area.

Thank you for all of your support! Here is the latest news: our shelter's a/c is partially back up and running, we were able to restore functionality to more of the cat areas last night! Also, we had 107 adoptions over the last 2 days and were able to meet our fundraising goal to cover the estimated cost of our a/c repairs! Thank you for all of your support!
Cost of repairs to the AC: $12,000
