Texas Forest Service is estimating 700 home were lost to fire in the last 48 hours
· Yesterday Texas Forest Service responded to 22 new fires for 7,544 acres, including 10 new large fires.

· In the past seven days Texas Forest Service has responded to 181 fires for 118,413 acres.

· It appears that in the past 48 hours, more than 700 homes have been destroyed. As better assessments come in, we will continue to update the situation report.

My brain is tilted knowing how many families are without a home today, and the numbers are going to go up as these fires continue to burn. Let's hope with the winds dying down they're able to get a handle on some of these wildfires tearing through the state. No matter what, things are going to get worse before they get better for us. :(

2. I had a few whiffs of smoke from those specific fires yesterday
before the winds shifted. When I was looking at the moon last night, it had an obvious smoky haze. I'm in NE Houston. Hoping that everyone stays safe.

3. Video showing how fast the Bastrop fire spreads:

When the officials tell you to evacuate, they mean it. I wish I could force every Texan to watch this right now.

4. Post that in GD
Maybe then some of the ones that insist on politicizing it will understand that the fire doesn't care what your politics are.

Phenomenal video, by the way! You might also emphasize that it's not a time-lapse, either.

6. Thank you!
This video could literally save lives. I only had a general idea of a "fast moving fire" and after seeing the video, it is much more concrete.

7. This prompted me to pack the emergency bag
They say you have 10 minutes to evacuate, but this video tells me to get my ass out ASAP if my area is being evacuated!

9. So scary.
It's just so dry out there, this could really be happening anywhere in the state right now. :(
