I mentioned this at the DU meetup tonight to highlight what I thought was a sad state of affairs these days. I can not believe that in 2011 we have people living in this century who think they can get away with this kind of disgusting behavior. :puke:

Racist Threats Escalate for Local Family; KKK Cited Before Shots Fired

SPRING BRANCH – Children are being traumatized and getting an unfortunate look into the past, as racism and anti-semitism rears its ugly head towards one local family in the Flying R Ranch subdivision in the Texas Hill Country, just off US 281 North between Kestrel Airpark and Heimer Lange Road.

One man has been accused of visual and vocal innuendo, vulgarity, racial slurs, and impediment of a school bus over the last week (with the help of the POA) that escalated into a spray of shotgun pellets peppering the family’s yard as they were outdoors this past weekend.

On Tuesday, September 6, the Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) filed a motion for a temporary restraining order and a civil rights lawsuit in the U.S. Federal Court – Western District of Texas, in San Antonio, against the accused, Daniel Eldridge, and the Flying R Ranch Property Owners’ Association (POA), on behalf of the Risenmay family (plaintiffs).

According to the filings, Eldridge and the POA have been blocking a public school bus from picking up the children of Michael and Leanna Risenmay because their children are African American and have disabilities.

Shame on Daniel Eldridge and the Flying R Ranch Property owners (most of them)! :mad:

Kudos to the TCRP for taking the case and for the Risenmay family for standing up to this racist bully! :thumbsup: :grouphug:

This development is very small and private. The article mentions that Daniel Eldridge was a business partner with the current President of the Property Owners Association (POA) in the same company. He may be retired or a very passive business partner in a successful business.

Here is a very disturbing thing about the update you posted. This guy Eldridge has no respect for authority either. He complies with a police office request one hour after ordered to do so! Why would the police put up with this kind of behavior? Are they afraid of him for some reason?

A Deputy returned that same afternoon to witness Eldridge’s blockade. “Eldridge refused to move his tractor even after the police officer ordered him to do so,” states the document. “After nearly an hour, he finally complied, but not until he vowed to the officer, “This is not going to get any better. It’s going to get a lot worse.”"

Going after children is just unconscionable. This man is really, really sick. I just wonder what in this guy's background would make him act out like this.

The thing I kinda worry about is the whole atmosphere in the U.S. People who hate Obama, for whatever reason, then feel free to take it out on others. I'm sure you've heard about the nut bags that try to run people off highways for having an Obama sticker on their car right? That's the kind of thing I fear. It's hate by association and it's ugly racism at the core. I don't know for sure this wing nut hates Obama, but I'm just going out on a limb thinking he's watching too much Faux news and they're rattling all the mentally deficient cells in his brain to hate.

I know you're a republican, you've already said that. I'm glad you like to come over and visit DU for the other side. I'd like to think we're kinda reasonable here.

But asking me to give "Rush a chance" is ridiculous to me. I hear plenty of Rush without even having to listen to his show. His ugliest, raunchiest hits are all over the tubes. I've heard enough hate from Rush to last 10 lifetimes. No one and I mean no one, not even you, should call Rush "a lovable" person. I mean Rush is full of anger because anger sells - that's his bread and butter. It makes money for him. If that's what you like to listen to, that's your prerogative. Me, I'm going to pass on the hate and watch and listen to things that are more truthful and worth my time.

14. What a hateful man

Why hate on an innocent human being, especially children, just because they are of another race? I hope one day soon this bigot will realize his evil ways. Will he ever get it? But then again, maybe not. :(

16. Is it 1960? Wow, his picture says it all. This was back in September.

I wonder what the current situation is. I hope things are improved, although I can't imagine how awful it would be for that family
to live in that awful neighborhood. On the other hand, I'm sure they don't want an asshole neighbor to chase them off.
I'm guessing most of the homes in that neighborhood are ranchettes of about 10-20 acres so it's not like they are right on top of each
other.
