Environmentalists are staging a rally today to protest the transportation of hazardous materials. It's prompted by that acid tanker train leak in South Salt Lake.
(Mar 9, 2005) -- Environmentalists say that acid tanker spill in South Salt Lake is a wake-up call about the dangers of transporting radioactive waste.
Vanessa Pierce is with the healthy environment alliance of Utah. Her group is calling on policy-makers to get tough about transporting hazardous waste throughout the state. "They need to fight tooth and nail the proposal to bring high level spent nuclear fuel rods on Utah transportation routes." <snip>
