How do we get rid of that DINO Matheson? |
|
His vote in favor of CAFTA is the last straw. Is there anyone that can put up a fight in the primary and get this clown ousted?

2. Um... doesn't Matheson have the highest approval rating... |
|
of any Democratic rep. from Utah? And if so, isn't it shooting yourself in the foot to oust the guy? After all, Orrin Hatch will be retiring sometime soon...

3. Hatch will never retire... |
|
He's running again in '06 although he will apparently face a primary challenge by someone who thinks he needs to be more conservative.
And yes Matheson does have the "highest approval rating of any Democratic rep. from Utah". He also has the lowest approval rating of any Democratic rep. from Utah.
I don't know if there are any other Democrats who could challenge Matheson, Bill Orton comes to mind but I'm not sure if his health will allow him to run. But this vote is just the latest betrayal IMO.

I agree that Matheson is a bit of a DINO, but if he has an outside chance of taking over Hatch's seat after the man goes (which will certainly be in 2012 -- he'll be into his 80s by then), then I'd be all for him. He may be a DINO, but a Democratic senator from Utah is one fairly big step toward a Democratic majority.
Of course, it's easy for me to say all this, since I don't live in Utah. You have my sympathies! :)

5. It's only been 30 years since we've had a Democratic senator... |

6 more will be a walk in the park.

9. Honestly who care if he'd take Hatch's seat |
|
It would be another Republican (by voting records) doing so.

7. DINO is right. Can't say I'm surprised. |
|
Wouldn't it be great to have a Rep that actually fought for the interests of the people rather than business? Wow, what a concept.

The map of red/blue Utah was quite interesting after the last election. Explains Rocky Anderson...sort of. :)

10. How about we unseat the Republicans |
|
Matheson is a DINO, yes, but unless you can find somebody with a freakish amount of personality and charisma as well as some sort of edge, a DINO is the only type of person that can win in a state like Utah.
Also, Matheson isn't a high profile person like Zell Miller was(not that Matheson is nearly as bad as Zell Miller). He's a backbencher who at least gives us his caucus vote and that's better than a Republican. If he doesn't have a high profile, then he isn't damaging our message.
