Former Petersburg Mayor Rosalyn Dance won the special election to fill the 63rd District seat in the House of Delegates.
They voted to replace Delegate Fenton Bland, who resigned in January after pleading guilty to a federal fraud charge. The 63rd District represents residents in Petersburg, Dinwiddie and a part of Chesterfield.
Dance won by a landslide with 4,341 votes Tuesday evening. She ran against Republican candidate Andrea Sims and Michael Bratschi, a Republican running as an Independent.
She will now run for a permanent seat in November’s general election.
