Voted this morning at 6:30

and I was the 6th voter. Only other voter there (elderly woman) was a Democrat. Three Repubs handing out litter out front.

2. I worked one of the precincts in...

...Henrico County. Since I live in the city (Richmond) I had to get up at 5:00 to be there for my 6:00-10:00 shift. I was there handing out stuff for Tim Kaine. There were some guys working for McEachin...no republicans working outside. During my time, 12 people voted democratic, 1 republican, 1 wouldn't say (republican) 1 got past me.

3. I voted at 0900 hours :-)

I was the only person voting at the time. However, some bloated woman with matching "Bob McDonnell" silk screens on her t-shirt, sun shade umbrella, and oh, don't forget the matching sign was bold enough to ask me if I was voting for this, IMHO, right wing freak. I took great pleasure in retorting, "No, as a matter of fact I came here to vote for HIS OPPONENT, Stephen Baril." Too funny. :P

Both opponents are right wingers, but the above demonstrates my point, the McDonnell people are shameless. They have been doing computerized "smear" call number campaigns. Don't get me started on the junk mailings.

Seemingly an electable Democrat is few and far between, many of us Virginians feel compelled to vote for the least radical republican.

Turnout was about 2-1 republicans' favor. No surprise, Pat Robertson lives in this precinct :)

Got my first lesson on a Diebold touch-screen, and politely asked for a receipt. Got some really strange looks. I simply said I know these things break down....more strange looks.

5. I voted around 10:00 AM. I'm in Richmond. Voted for

Mike Herring and Viola Baskerville.

There was a young guy who approached me before I went in to vote, asking if I was a Dem. I said, "Sure am." He was asking if I had time to volunteer for Kaine's campaign. I said I didn't due to work commitments, but he sure had my vote come November. Some crotchety old dude behind me said really loud, " Don't EVEN bother asking me!" Probably a Fox-watching, Rush-listening Repuke! Yech!

Richmond just changed to touch-screen voting, and I "practiced" before I voted for real. I asked who manufacturered it, if there is a paper trail (I knew there wasn't), and what measures they were taking to ensure no one could tamper with the vote. He said he didn't know the manufacturer (I said "I hope it's not Diebold"), and he claimed while there is no receipt, there are "tapes" they can print or run in the event a re-count is needed. He said they are tamper-proof (I'm not buying it).

Turn out is expected to be light in Richmond.
