I am so upset. I have never been treated so poorly in my life by a physician's office. The nurse hung up on me while I was in mid sentence. I cannot really get into the total detail because it is involved; however, I want to file a complaint with the state board against the physician and his nurse. If I have to wait 14 days before they can give me any treatment, then I'll wait 14 days; however, there is no reason whatsoever for that woman to treat me the way she did.
I have never had anyone slammed the phone down on me when I wasn't yelling, swearing, or disrespecting her. Yes, I was upset. Yes, I was almost in tears because of my pain, and yes she treated me like I was seeking some narcotics; however, as I stated to her, I have another doctor that controls my pain with Morphine patch as well as Lortabs. I also stated I had never asked this physician for any kind of pain medicine and wasn't today. All I wanted from him was cortisone shots in my elbows and neck to bring down some of the swelling.
She made me feel lower than a low life. Yes, there are people that abuse these drugs, but I am not one of them, and I have a physician that specializes in pain management that I see on a regular basis that takes care of my pain medication.
I should have never even brought up the fact that I already had pain medication I was taking and it wasn't helping my arms, and I had been using Ice, and that's about it. I told her I was always able to get in within a day or two and she starts this hateful explanation about everyone on vacations with the 4th coming up, etc., etc.
All I know is it sounded like she had had a bad day because they may be short handed; however, don't take it out on a patient. Especially one that pays before seeing the physician and, in fact, helps to pay her salary. Also, as a patient, I know they have a "PATIENTS' CODE OF RIGHTS." and she DEFINITELY did not treat me with respect.
Well, I guess I did get into it afterall, huh? I'm just so upset.
Again, what state agency do I contact regarding this type of behavior? Like I said, I sent an email to HR at the hospital (as I worked there many moons ago)
I know nurses are overworked, underpaid, and have to listen to mouthy doctors . . . and they are mouthy. That is why I didn't become one, I saw how they were treated when I worked in the hospitals. They were not given any respect by the doctors hardly at all. And God help any LPNs or aids.
However, I have never seen a nurse treat a patient like this one did me, and I refuse to stand and take that kind of abuse. I'll either file a complaint and if I have to go to court, so beit; or she will apologize to me. Someone with that quick of a temper shouldn't be a nurse anyway. Like I stated before, we all have bad days, and we all sometimes tend to lash out at others, but that is no excuse for cruelty.
