Did Anyone Read The Richmond Newspaper Today |
|
or should I say the Republican Times Disgrace? There was an editorial supporting Ann Coulter. :puke: Just yesterday there was an editorial that supported the Patriot Act going in to the sunset. WTF is wrong with this paper? Is it schizophrenic or what???? Or is just a flip flop editorial board?

The Rabble
Richmond Times-Dispatch Dec 28, 2005
In an incident all too common on college campuses these days, an audience at the University of Connecticut shouted down right-wing commentator Ann Coulter during her appearance there. Ms. Coulter built her reputation as a lightning rod, and her rock-throwing brand of politics contrib- utes more to entertainment than to enlightenment. She's more Al Franken than George Will.
Before being shouted down, for instance, she described California Senator Barbara Boxer as a good Democratic candidate because "she is a woman and she's learning-disabled." Instead of trying to match Ms. Coulter's barbed wit, however, the students at UConn simply drowned her out. One of them asked if she were serious about opposing voting rights for women.
"Not having women vote is a joke," Ms. Coulter replied. The Associated Press' Shelly Wong helpfully added that Ms. Coulter was "reversing comments she has previously made." The humor-disabled Ms. Wong evidently didn't grasp that Ms. Coulter's previous comments were not serious but intentionally outrageous.
Equally outrageous was Ms. Coulter's remark at UConn that she loves to debate "people who are stupider than I am." But in shouting her down, her opponents merely proved her right.

First-if Coulter told a joke (probably just saying that now) it surely wasn't actually funny that's why no one thought it was a joke.
Second-for reason that someone smarter than me would have to explain-Repbulicans do not GET irony or sarcasm. They just don't.
ON EDIT- this "joke" excuse sounds like part of the conservatives concerted effort make themselves seem to be the fun and footloose ones. They, you see, are happy and joyous not like those miserable self-loathing white-guilted feminated liberals. COME JOIN US! WE HAVE FUN!!! <---like that.
Lastly-all the RW talking heads regularly fill time with rants about the OUTRAGEOUS use of student fees to pay the likes of Michael Moore and .....uh......someone else. Not here though. No mention of student fees just student mouths open and flowing. How dare they.
