Selected fundraising numbers from around VA
Guest Column by Not Gretchen Bulova:
CD-1 Jo Ann Davis
Raised 4Q - $46,100
Cash on hand - $228,755.72
Davis is in no trouble at all.
CD-2Thelma Drake
Raised 4Q - $96,975
Cash on hand - $266,871.55
Drake's numbers are lackluster for a freshman with a legitimate challenger. The Cheney fundraiser will help, but she'll need to start raising some cash.
Phil Kellam
Raised 4Q - $64,200
Cash on hand - $104,300
He did not have an entire period to raise money, but many thought he would do better than 60K raised and 40K of his own money. If he wants to have a chance, he'll need to do a lot better. He could be helped if Webb is the top of the ticket for Dems.
CD-5Virgil Goode
Raised 4Q - $44,257
Cash on hand - $439,831
Al Weed
Raised 4Q - $18,216
Cash on hand - $$13,475.71
No matter how hard Al Weed tries, he will not be the next Congressman in the 5th District.
CD-10Frank Wolf
Raised 4Q - $164,644
Cash on hand - $428,959.67
No numbers for Judy Feder as she announced late. Looks like Wolf is making sure he is prepared for a fight in case one is needed. In order for Dems to win here, they'd need more than a breeze at their backs this fall.
CD-11Tom Davis
Raised 4Q - $484,171.83
Cash on hand - $1,651,532
Andy Hurst
Raised 4Q - $8329
Cash on hand - $31211.61
Ken Longmyer
Raised 4Q - $4201
Cash on hand - $3092.30
Davis has a 53 to 1 COH advantage over Hurst, who still has to win a primary. Hurst and Longmyer are running to see who can get 2nd. Even in a Democratic year, this race is far-fetched. Whoever wins the Democratic nomination will be playing one of VA Democrats favorite Congressional games - which nominee in the 5th, 10th, or 11th can get closest to 40%. Your winner in 2004 was Ken Longmyer with 38%.
