Amy Reger, who helped Timothy M. Kaine win key suburban areas in Northern Virginia in his run for governor, is the new executive director of the Democratic Party of Virginia. She replaced Lindsey Reynolds yesterday. Reynolds was the second-longest serving executive director in the country. She served three years.
Speaking of Reger, C. Richard Cranwell, the state party chairman, said "Governor Kaine and I were impressed with her efforts working for the coordinated campaign in Prince William and Loudoun counties last year.
She was the regional field director in Prince William County for the Virginia Democratic coordinated campaign, the organization that works on behalf of the party's three candidates for statewide office. In a surprise, Kaine won Prince William and Loudoun counties, thought to be Republican strongholds.
Reger worked for Wesley Clark's presidential campaign as a regional field director in Virginia in 2004. After the presidential primary that year, she joined 21st Century Democrats as the young voter project director in Nevada. She is a former reporter for the Loudoun Times-Mirror. She lives in Fauquier County.
