VA DU'ers Check In Here!
I just want to say "hi" to all my fellow VA evilDUers and welcome you here to this forum, rookies and veterans alike. Check in and say hi and let us know a bit about yourselves. Ill get the ball rolling ...

Im a 25 y.o. white guy, born and raised in Winchester. Graduated from VA Tech in December '03 with a Biology degree and Im currently living in China teaching English with my wife. Ive been a Democrat since I was 3 (no kidding) and Im glad to be on the right side. I like Bluegrass, I love my state, and I cant wait to see George Allen get his ass handed to him this November.

:hi:

2. I'm an urban Richmonder.
Born here in 1961. I was raised republican but left it all behind in the first Reagan term. I live with my partner of 14 years in a house we are still working on in an old Richmond neighborhood right on the edge of downtown. I own a car but I don't use it very much, taking the bus or riding my bike to work. I'm frustrated as hell with the state and federal government, although I have wonderful representation in the Virginia House and Senate and in the House of Representatives. My senators do not reflect my interests. This is an understatement of gargantuan proportions.

I would love to see George Allen unemployed. Maybe that's harsh. Okay, I would love to see him wearing a paper hat and asking me, "Would you like to super-size that combo?"

3. Not a native Richmonder - been here since 1963.
Born 1940 (yes, I'm a really old fart) in Tallahassee, FL. Live near Willow Lawn. I have to confess I voted Republican once in my life (for Richard Nixon), but believe me I learned that time!! I love VA dearly, can't imagine living anywhere else. Not really an active "foot soldier" Democrat, but I contribute money to many of the campaigns and I never miss a vote.

4. NoVa resident
Hi -- I've been a resident of Northern Virginia for 15 years. I'm a former marketing professional -- now a stay-at-home mom with two young children. I'm actively involved in 1st Amendment issues in VA (lots of research on the religious right), and I'm working hard to educate friends and neighbors who are "too busy" to pay attention. I am also part of a growing group of women who have helped to elect some new (and better!) General Assembly members.

I, too, love Virginia! Every time we contemplate moving, we think of all this area has to offer and end up staying.

DU has been my lifesaver for the past several years (I lurked for a long time). My husband has challenged me to stay away from the computer for a day. So far I haven't been able to do it!

13. NOVA now, was in Chesterfield for a while.
Turned 55 in March.
Voted Republican once -- For Gov.Godwin. He was strongly in favor of the Community College system when he was a Dem. I worked for the Community College and thought I was preserving my job. As a Repub, Godwin cut funding for my job.

I'm a Kennedy Dem, a captive of the Camelot years. My family thought it was cute. They were all Dems back then -- many still are.

I was too busy in college to have paid that much attention to Watergate, even though I was attending GWU (physically located between White House and Watergate buildings.) until my tuition money ran out.

I also look forward to seeing the grin wiped off of George Allen's face when he loses in November. He is a lifelong racist and should never have been elected to dogcatcher. It is dangerous for him to have power.

14. Born in Brooklyn (NY), grew up in NoVA (Springfield)
Now happily settled in Virginia Beach with my "first" husband of 37 years :loveya:

Oh yeah, and he's a republican, Faux news fan, supports the war and BUSH....accckkkkk. But ...that which doth not kill me makes me stronger... (Ask me anything...lol) But I know alot about crossover appeal, which includes Webb and Edwards. Interesting huh? Also, I don't want to offend any other Dem supporters here, but why he won't support certain "2008 candidates (D&R) for dog catcher" usually makes sense to me.

Shout Out to AlecB.....he does us proud in the Virginia section of the DU Research Forum. :hi:

16. Hi Alec! I'm a yellow dawg democrat born and raised .....
I've NEVER voted for a Republican, since I was able to vote in 1960, for John F. Kennedy and all Democrats since then! I was born a Democrat on my Mother's side; my Dad, on the other hand, was a Republican. My brother is a Repub; my sister and I are Dems; I guess it just shows who has more power in the family!
