I just got a call from the Webb campaign. |
|
When I voted in the primary, I indicated that I would be willing to work on his campaign, (I've known Jim for quite a few years, and I'm telling you, he CAN defeat the idiot, Allen.) I'll be working at his Northern Virginia HQ in the fall.

I just learned that because he is not full of bucks like Allen, he is going to be very dependent on volunteers. I'll be helping him out in the Richmond area.

2. The key to a successful campaign is for Webb |
|
to immediately fight back - and hard - when the repuke slander machine goes into high gear - as it inevitably will. Allen has so many skeletons rattling around in his closet, it would be a shame if Webb doesn't drag them out and make Allen own them. Allen grew up in an environment where winning was the most important thing. He'll do whatever it takes.
When The New Republic published a lengthy two-part expose on Allen, exposing his racist attitudes going back decades, Webb thought it hit "below the belt." I'm sure he'd like to run a high-minded, issues-oriented campaign, but he's facing a Bush apologist with a crappy record who will find a way to make Webb the issue and isn't above sligning considerable mud. I know the creep can be defeated, but Webb will have to pull out all the stops in order to be so far ahead on election day that it can't be stolen.
Just two cents from one of George Allen's many high school classmates who are ashamed and embarrassed that he made it this far.

That's understood. I look forward to volunteering with my local Democratic Party. We have had a large influx of Latino and Black residents over the past few years. IMO and others - this influx is due to fill positions in fast food, service and other typically minimum wage jobs. I'm hoping to help get these good people registered and voting come November.
Yes, I understand that we must fight back. Webb is a little more conservative than my concept of a perfect democratic candidate, but I respect him and believe that "he's no slouch" when it comes to intelligent campaigning.
