VA-Pilot endorses: James Webb for U.S. Senate
Jim Webb gets an endorsement. Does anybody know how important this one is?

October 27, 2006. Over the past few months, Virginians have started to get to know James Webb.

There are still gaps in that knowledge, but on two of the most essential ingredients for a U.S. senator - character and intellect - the record is clear.

Webb has an abundance of both.

Witness the fact that you have seen no pictures of Webb with his son, Jimmy, as the 24-year-old Marine lance corporal deployed for Iraq last month. That's because Webb would not allow any. Or the fact that nowhere on his campaign Web site will you find the citation (reprinted below) for extraordinary bravery that accompanied the Navy Cross awarded him for "courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty" in Vietnam.

1. I think it is the main paper for the whole Tidewater area
and if so, this is VERY important. That area is purple--some blue areas, some very red.

2. It covers southside (VA Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk, etc.).
The Daily Press covers the Peninsula (Newport News, Hampton, etc.).

3. Glad to see they endorsed Webb. I was disappointed they
endorsed Drake over the Kellam the other day, however.

Hey guys, how does it look for Webb in the "real Virginia"? Anybody canvassing down there? What sense do you get? Northern Virginia is overwhelmingly for Webb.

7. I think Roanoke is pretty reliably blue, isn't it?
