The official "I voted today" thread :). |
|
Oh Come on . . might as well.
In anycase, first time I've voted in Petersburg (Up until last year I was registered in Mathews County).. somewhat different of a voting experience. . mainly for the fact that in Mathews I use to be able to walk in.... vote and leave... first time I've ever had to wait in a line (Not a very big one though).
It was a computer screen, but it was easy to use at least, and the people were really really nice, both the volunteers and just everyone who was there in general. So it was a good voting experience.

1. Lots of people out in NoVa |
|
There was a steady stream of people at my local polling place. Good turnout -- especially considering that you had to fight for a parking spot at the school.

I just went at lunchtime and it was pretty empty at my polling place. The only signs outside were for Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. It was a little discouraging.

(By kind of I mean I probably won't do it) to drive back to the polling place and see if business has picked up heh.
Around my polling place I saw Hillary and Ron Paul signs.

well I don't know for sure, but my husband and I went at different times and both times the people on the left of the table with the Democrat book were way more busy.
A Republican my husband works with said he was voting for Hillary today because she can beat McCain. That just sounds sick, those people are horrible and twisted. But in VA we can vote in whatever party we want for this.

5. My Precinct is Rather Democratic |

for the Richmond area. I was about the 350th Dem voting and there were about 80 votes from Repukes. We outnumbered them over 4 to 1. It gives me confidence that we will have a Democratic president.

Had a thirty minute wait and the line was down the hallway again. Big Dem turnout judging by the ballot count at the sign in table. Folks were talking about a combined ticket. You never know.

I voted this morning and hubby voted before the polls closed. Both times, the GOP line was not as busy as the Dems. :)

10. I voted after the buses cleared the school parking lot... |

I usually know a LOT of the people when I vote in my Loudoun County precinct, but this morning I saw a steady stream of strangers and was THRILLED! They were friendly, smiling, and greeting each other as they passed. They had their heads up, looking you in the eye, giving knowing glances, walking with a purpose like I've never seen voters do before.
I will sleep well tonight. I am hopeful again.

My husband went by our polling place at 8:00pm after the polls closed to pick up signs. People were still coming out of the polling place having just voted after waiting over an hour! We've never seen that!
