The tax-free items include generators priced at $1,000 or less, and other hurricane preparation items priced at $60 or less, including batteries, flashlights, rope, bungee cords, duct tape, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, cell phone chargers, first aid kits, two-way radios and bottled water, according to a Virginia Department of Taxation news release.
