From wapo http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/18/AR2008071801621.html"Gartlan, 82, a heartfelt liberal in the conservative General Assembly for almost a generation, used his influence, longevity and passion to help the environment, mentally ill people and the poor. He died yesterday of sepsis at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Fairfax. "
