va constitutional admendments - there are two - are they good for
dems

or not

they are pdf files so I can not copy and paste

http://www.vbgov.com/dept/voter /

the second item in the list on rightish side
November 2, 2004 General and Special Elections Sample Ballot Guide

has to do with redistricting and who gets to stay in office

the second is chain of command

since our state congress is repub - I just sense these are repub favorites

something about amending the constitution irks me - it becomes too permanent and doesn't allow for activists (dem) judges to make things right - although the last activists judges installed * at a federal level

anyway I would like others take on these two constitutional admendments - I am going to vote early since between oct18 and 30 we can. - I like to vote on everything so this is my part of becoming informed

ya'll are going to inform me

the rest of the ballot I have a handle on Kerry/Edwards and Ashe

1. We have four bond issues
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 10:48 AM by Virginian
I didn't know about the constitutional ammendments, we also have four bond issues up here in Fairfax.
Those lines are going to be really long. Voting is going to be slow.

Is this a Republican ploy to discourage voters? Make them give up and go away?

On edit: I knew but forgot about the state constitutional ammendments.

They both seem innocent enough:

If there is a census, let the elected representatives finish their terms of office.

Set up a Commononwealth order of succession like there is in the US Constitution so that if both Gov. and LT Gov. die in an "event", there is a logical person to take command. I hope it just says "the order is...", and doesn't include language about a terrorist attack. What if an earthquake strikes Richmond and neither of them survive? Would the order of succession be voided because of how they died?
