Most Virginians voted for Obama.
(edit: unless you mean the Hampton Roads Republican lawmakers)

I do think, however, that the votes from recent elections is a sign of good things to come down here.

5. it just means minorities made an effort to vote - the rest of the time |
|
they do not or can not - this is why legislature voted down the no-excuse absentee ballot initiative - they don't want these people voting in democrats

4. Not to argue with you about Virginia (as red or blue) --- but |
|
the Lt Gov (Bill Bolling), as far as I know is not a graduate of Pat Robertson's so-called University (Regent) - in Va Beach.
You're probably thinking of McDonnell, who was Atty Gen up until a short time ago, when he resigned his seat to run for the Repub nomination for Governor of the state. He is a Regent Univ. grad.
Anyway, one can optimistically say the state has begun to turn at least a slight shade of "purple" in the last couple of elections - certainly compared to the 100% republican results we used to suffer statewide. And with the General Assembly's numbskull rejection of stimulus funds they may be in for some unexpected backlash this fall. At least we can hope so!!

yes he was a regent university grad
northern Virginia is more blue Hampton roads is military and contracts so they need the repub mentality of guns and ammo and killing - the rich parts of hampton roads are solid - like Chesapeake where pat robertson is located
But I do think they voted that lady out in va beach that got in when the prior guy resigned before he was 'outed'
I still read the comments on the recent votes on stimulus and see the rw ing talking points and uneducated 'fixed' news and boss limbaugh and oreilly points

But two terms of a Democratic governor and now we have two, count them, two, Democratic senators. Sure they're not liberal, but they're not red. Things don't change overnight, but more northerners are moving down here so eventually we will be a deep purple.

Roads, lately?
on edit: MY bad. It was the 'con-controlled House that rejected it. I'll leave this here in case somebody else doesn't read it before posting.
