1. The local conservative blogs have been advertising this event |
|
Per their comments, I would bet that our local right wingers are planning to be disruptive and impede civil debate. Interestingly, some of our locals are also leaders of national conservative/right-wing groups. I'll be watching to see if they portray themselves as part of a "grassroots" movement!

3. I might actually be able to get to this one-- |
|
Thanks so much for that--I just returned from trying to meet up with Moveon.org dudes down near the Capitol. On my way to my nearest Metro (I live in Herndon), I made it as far as the Beltway, which is a stinkin' mess due to resurfacing, which has closed lanes. I bailed at the Rte. 7 exit, intending to take Gallows down to Dunn Loring, but ended up on the wrong side of the Beltway, which necessitated a U-turn. Managed that, and made it to the Gallows intersection, left-turn lane only to discover that the traffic lights facing Rte. 7 were out. Holy frijoles. Only a pointless two hours out of my life . . . I anticipate better luck with this event. (*sorry I just needed to vent*)

Depends on schedules that day, and how we're feeling about bringing the kids. It might be good for them to see firsthand. On the other hand, I've observed/interacted with these potential disruptors at public venues before, and they make me a little nervous. They do not understand the concept of civil discourse.
Sorry for your traffic troubles! It used to be that it was feasible to travel around the metro area from 10-2...unfortunately, this is no longer true!
