One killed, one wounded in Virginia Beach sports pub shooting

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting early this morning at a Virginia Beach sports bar.

Police received a call at 2:19 a.m. reporting a shooting at the Hometown Heroes Sports Pub, on the 3700 block of Tiffany Lane, said police department spokeswoman Margie Hobbs.

They arrived on scene and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, where one was later pronounced dead. The other received non-life-threatening injuries, Hobbs said.

Police have identified the dead victim as Jawan Evans, 29, of the 3600 block of Burns Court in Virginia Beach.

2. It's always a GREAT idea to bring a gun to a bar when you're drinking!

hand while playing Lotto and singing 'Good Night Irene' the two-fingered old albino Indian with the mole on his left eyebrow wouldn't have pulled out his Colt 45 and started shooting at the chandelier.

Seriously, though, I didn't see anything in the article that said it was someone who was drinking at the bar who did the shooting. Did I miss something?

I do agree, though, that it's a dumb idea to bring a gun with you when you go drinking. I'm just not sure that's exactly what happened here.

4. Well, if one is going to a bar, I doubt they will be ordering a ginger ale.

Of course, there's always a first time, someone goes to a bar to drink a ginger ale, and brings a gun!

5. I just don't see where you're getting that it was a CUSTOMER who did the

shooting. There's really not enough information yet, IMHO, to be making that assumption. And, since they are apparently still looking for a suspect, an attempted robbery seems as likely a cause as a drunk with a gun.

But I frequently go primarily for socializing and live music, both of which are better sober.
