This morning the centerpiece of fine dining in Lexington, VA, burned down, damaging several other businesses along the way.
http://www.rockbridgeweekly.com/rw_article.php?ndx=17984Regrettably, the loss of the Southern Inn represents the loss of about 25% of all the bars in Lexington, and about 50% of the city's high-end dining, and 100% of all the places one is likely to see Gary Ruley and the Mule Train, the best bluegrass band in the world. I'm told that a wedding reception was scheduled to be held there tomorrow, so those poor folks will be looking for somewhere to go, too. It unquestionably had the nicest antique bar in town, which was probably frowned upon by the likes of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee.
