Voting Rights Restoration Reform and LGBT Rights Bills Die in the House of Delegates
Despite having passed the Senate and receiving a great show of support at the hearings, two bills advancing equality died in the House earlier this week. A House General Laws subcommittee killed SB 747, which would have prohibited sexual orientation discrimination in state employment, while a Privileges and Elections subcommittee did away with SJ 284, a constitutional amendment that would have authorized the General Assembly to restore the voting rights of individuals convicted of non-violent felonies.
