Is it true that the Hood Canal Bridge might be opening ahead of schedule?

I've been hearing talk here and there in Kitsap County the past few days that the bridge construction is ahead of schedule and that it might be opening a few weeks early--perhaps even sometime next week.

I looked around on the various Hood Canal web sites and couldn't find any confirmation of the rumor. I think the bridge was originally scheduled to be finished the second or third week of June.

I'm hoping the rumor is true!
