this week held the seventh rollout of its new Dreamliner (a name pregnant with meaning). For the first time the wonder plane taxid up and down the runway, reaching speeds in excess of 30 mph. Boeing execs expressed pleasure at the new plane's performance, noting that the trip from Seattle to L.A. could be accomplished in less than 40 hours. Plans are underway to widen I-5. When asked about in transit meals for such a long journey, a Boeing spokesperson announced another first: Taqueria el Asadero will accompany the plane. Try the mulitas. They are excellent, and only $1.50. Pepsi is available from the coke machine.

If only the machinists hadn't insisted on off-shoring all that work... If only the rank and file hadn't insisted on importing the quick buck culture of McDonnell-Douglas.. Things are bound to improve if they can only move production to South Carolina and hire a bunch of itinerant cotton pickers to build the planes for eight buck an hour.
