4. I went to the last 2 really big ones they had 4 or 5 yrs ago |
And they were great. The first one was best. It was a good mix of hippies, good old appalachians, and the Methodists who had a convention in town that year. The second one was good, but it was more just hippies, nothing wrong with that, but people EXPECT them to be anti mountaintop. At both they had a huge cemetary set up with gravestones with the names of buried streams on them.

5. My husband and I attended one of the big ones . . . |
. . . about 5 years ago . . . and we were encouraged to help set up those tombstones because we were looking for one particular stream (Browns Run) that's buried by coal mine wastes in our home county (Marshall). Had lots of fun . . . took photos of us placing artificial flowers on our stream's grave. :-}

6. I've found that the OVEC people are very nice and very well... |
informed. I've talked with some in person and some on the phone over the past three years and they always seemed friendly and were always very helpful. Besides, they have a right to be upset as do many other West Virginians. The damage these Mountain Top Removal projects are presently doing to our state, is irreparable!
