Blankenship sues Manchin!

Says Manchin is retaliating against Blankenships helping defeat Manchin's proposed bond measure by keeping Massey from putting up a coal storage tower? near a school?

I'm not sure of Manchin's motivations, but this is honestly the first thing I have heard of Manchin doing that I applaud him for. If it is indeed retaliation I'd like to see him go full scale and lower the weight limit for coal trucks back down and ban mountaintop removal mining. Or if he doesn't ban it tax the shit out of where the state would at least not be losing money on the practice! I would dearly love to see the mining companies who take so much and give so little have to bear the full cost of their actions!

1. Massey silo permit revoked

State regulators on Tuesday revoked a permit for one of two Massey Energy coal storage silos next to a Raleigh County elementary school.

The state Department of Environmental Protection ordered Massey subsidiary Goals Coal Co. to rip up the silo’s foundation and reclaim the area.

This year he also filed a $300 million law suit against United Mine Workers of America, Cecil Roberts, president of UMWA, West Virginia Consumers for Justice (an independent political group that was active in the 2004 election season), Kenneth Perdue, chairman of West Virginia Consumers for Justice, and The Charleston Gazette.

The complaint states the defamatory statements "were undisputedly false and were made with actual malice because the defendants made their false statements with knowledge or reckless disregard that the statements were false."

Blankenship filed this suit in an attempt to punish and silence his critics. Then he files the one against Governor Manchin, complaining his own rights of free speech have been impaired.
