The primary is only inside the party. May. Not November.

I, for one, will not cast a ballot for Byrd in the Primary. I'll leave his name blank.

I don't vote for *any* politician, no matter how "hallowed," how clothed in "gravitas," who puts the shiv in my and my family's back.

Just as a matter for discussion, Byrd voted against the 1964 Voting Rights Act, just like George H.W. Bush did. Byrd voted for the Bankruptcy bill, just like the Republicans did. Byrd voted to close the courthouse doors to victims of corporate misdeeds (class action reform) just like the Republicans did. Byrd voted for John Roberts' confirmation, just like the Republicans did. Byrd has never said a harsh word about Mountain Top Removal, just like the Republicans. Now, he's going to vote to confirm Alito, a man who clearly will vote to affirm George Bush's abuses of power, just like the Republicans.

Given his substantive votes with the Republicans, his speechifyin' on the war in Iraq rings terribly hollow.

Remind me again where this notion comes from that Byrd is such a staunch Democrat. He can't even be counted on to vote with his own Senate Democratic Caucus.

Byrd needs to lead, follow or get out of the way.
