WRVC fires DeLancey (W.VA to lose Air America?) |
|
Dee Delancey was the liberal local morning host on the station. He was also the programming director who brought liberal radio to Huntington. Last week, he was abruptly fire. Today, wrvc ANNOUNCED THAT IT'S BORING-AS-ALL-GET-OUT LOCAL SPORTS SHOW WILL EXPAND TO 2 HOURS, followed by espn through the night, replacing the randi rhodes show. programs are being pre-empted more and more often for sports coverage. Is ther station on the verge of canning all liberal talk?
Now might be a good time to write the station and let your voice be heard. wrvc@wrvc.com Take action or suffer a state dominated by John Rase productions and the horror of The Tom Roten Backwoods Yokel Morning Show.

1. They're adding The Young Turks to mornings |
|
Also have Al Franken and Ed Schultz. The rest of the schedule is a few local shows and LOTS of ESPN on the evening and overnight hours.
Talk about creating a trainwreck!

...in the smaller markets, liberal talk is often done very half-assed. Usually very fickle owners that don't understand the format. I've seen AAR affiliates where the owner would do things like put someone like Michael Savage smack dab in the middle of the schedule, do no promotion whatsoever, not put up a website, run faulty automation equipment, or put really horrible imaging on the station. Then these idiots complain when the ratings suck.
Unfortunately, there's a few turnkey operations in some larger markets (like Cincy) that do some of the same things.
It almost sounds like WRVC is slowly trying to back out of the format. I don't know what they expect with all the ESPN programming. Automated sports formats that run nothing but satellite programming tend to get worse ratings than AAR affiliates. Although I will say that at least they're doing (or at least attempting) live and local programming. Still, it sounds like they have very little understanding of how to do this type of format.
