http://www.wvgazette.com/section/News/2005021635Charleston city councilman and lawyer Mark Sadd is no longer in the running to replace the late Charles H. Haden II on the U.S. District Court for Southern West Virginia.
On Wednesday, Sadd confirmed that he was no longer being considered for the position. At one point, he was rumored to be the front-runner for the federal judgeship, leading to an outpouring of both support and opposition to his possible appointment.
The news also led Charleston Mayor Danny Jones, a fellow Republican, to attack Sadd in the press as not qualified for the job.
“The possibility of Mark Sadd being a federal judge is frightening,” Jones said in December. “He does not have the temperament, the character or the background. He’s a real-estate lawyer.”
