Following his tradition of attention-grabbing proposals, Sen. Alan Lasee, R-Rockland, has again introduced legislation to eliminate both the lieutenant governor and secretary of state positions to save taxpayer dollars.

"I'm thinking we could save a couple of million dollars by getting rid of a couple of positions that are outdates and archaic," Lasee said Friday.(snip)
Both Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton and Secretary of State Douglas La Follette are Democrats, but Lasee has made this proposal in the past, including when Republican Scott McCallum was lieutenant governor.(snip)
