3. He gives a lot to charity
Herbert H. Kohl Charities gives small grants to numerous charitable groups and also, I believe to individual students and teachers. In 2005, to take a recent year, the distribution was more than $800,000.

4. The numbers in this June 09 article
are quite a bit different, listing Kohl's assets at 110 million. I'd heard elsewhere that he was "worth" 250 million at some point in time.
