DU MEETUP & meetup with TOBIN |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-18-10 06:54 PM by mzteris
of Lounge fame!
Tobin will be in Milwaukee for his new job on July 7th. We're thinking what a great reason to have a get-together of the Milwaukee area (and MADISON PEOPLE TOO!! - I'm from Madison, the drive's not that far!)
He'll be "near" the airport (very) so can someone suggest something simple and easy to get to? Emphasis on talk with coffee, or dinner maybe? Not too late 'cause he has to be up early for the 7th.
Oh - and rather do the meetup on the 6th - which is Tuesday night.
Who's interested?

3. There are a lot of choices on Layton |
|
If you take the airport exit from Hwy 43, there's a last-chance-before-the-airport exit at Howell Ave.
Go left (north) to Layton, the next intersection with a traffic light. (Shell gas at northeast corner.)
If you go left, again (west), there are a string of low budget eateries. (Oakland Gyro's South might have the best food, familiar to many east-siders.) If you turn right at that intersection (back east), there are a couple of bars that serve food, that may or may not have small airplanes permanently mounted on the roof. (Can't say too much about them.) Also one middle-to-higher-end restaurant... the Timbers?
...But Tuesday night?

Goof in the 1st line... By the time you get that far south, the main airport exit isn't off Hwy 43, it probably shows up as 94, or 94/43, on the map.

5. he's only in town for a couple of days. |
|
Gets in on the 6th - meets with the new company on the 7th, not sure how late. So, yeah, Tuesday.
Thanks for the suggestions - I'm thinking more than fastfood and not "just a bar" either... can't find a Timbers restaurant on google.

That's because I totally misremembered the name. It's a dark brown hulk of a place, on the north side of Layton. I've never eaten there but remember a decent review in the Shepherd, not too long ago. The real name is "The Packing House." http://www.foodspot.com/Clients/WI/Milwaukee/PackingHouse/default.aspx?accid=14690

but is there just a sitting around and talking area? (yeah, like a bar but not just a bar, ya know? )
Oh - and if you know any other Milwaukee DU'ers - get them off their duffs, 'k?
