WHY did you people not warn me before I bought a house in this Republican-infested shithole?

So my sixteen-year-old daughter goes to the Elmbrook Friends of the Library booksale on Saturday and finds the book "Bad President" which is a take-off on the "Bad Dog" and "Bad Cat" books -- the ones that have funny pictures of dogs and cats with captions. Only "Bad President" is captioned pictures of George W. Bush.

So this 60ish woman is ahead of my daughter in line and she sees the book in my daughter's hand. She starts giving my kid a ration of shit about "you young people" and etc. My daughter politely responds, "Well, you're entitled to your opinion" and the woman absolutely goes ballistic on my kid. Fucking screaming at her.

The library staff is trying to get her out the damn door and she won't go. She's in my kid's grill, screaming about how "You're a liberal now, but someday you'll grow up and be a Conservative."

As if, bitch.

Still 1/3 of us dems to season the pot. That woman is doubtless emboldened by FOX news--whose viewers always seem so sure that they are right, the rest of us wrong. Just ignore them and remind yourself that Wisconsin is a BLUE state! :-)

7. It could be worse - you could be in Janesville.

Last week, my fiancee and I were driving around town, and TWICE got flipped off. No, it wasn't my driving - I'm sure it was my Obama 08 sticker and the "Got Hope?" sticker that did it.

8. Janesville strikes me as purple-r than, say, the Fox River Valley

I see some pockets of blue driving around J-ville when I'm down that way. Up by Oshkosh and Green Bay I start seeing birther and fundie billboards. Still, when I venture out of the Madison area it feels like another state...and if I head back to west Michigan I feel like I'm on another planet altogether. :D

I know Joe and I'm know he's sort of "out there"...and I know about the conservative bent to Sheboygan...but I love the lake and the way the place looks...I enjoy visiting there often...I also enjoy Oshkosh area and can generally find a few "blue" folks to hang with but every once in a while...well...you run into a ...let's see here...tea-partying, bible-thumping-mouth-foaming birther...whew!
