What is Russ Waiting For? |
|
Johnson is obviously a wealthy, clueless Republican yes-man who will toe the party line 100% and fool the middle class into thinking he's their savior. He's hammering Russ with negative TV ads, and all I'm seeing right now is one with Russ standing in front of his house talking about the past. I thought the floodgates would open after the primary.... but it didn't happen. Maybe some of you are more savvy than I am about campaigning, but isn't it about time for him to hit back hard against this fool?

1. The "Garage Door" ad should be very effective |
|
Russ has been elected three times by the people of Wisconsin, and this ad will remind them of why they voted for him in the first place. He has kept all those promises over the years, and people know it. His reputation as a straight shooter is what has motivated many Republicans to support him even if they didn't agree with everything he does. This ad helps to insulate him from the accusation of being a "career politician" (career, yes, perhaps, because he's been there quite a while; politician, in the pejorative sense, no).
Don't forget that one thing people like about Russ is his clever, upbeat ads. I hope his advisers make the ads in the rest of the campaign more like his old style ads, not the ominous, sarcastic ones that so many candidates seem to favor. If they're smart they'll find a way to bring out Johnson's negatives without being "nasty" about it. (That could also apply to many other candidates. A lot of people who don't pay much attention to politics always say they get "fed up with both sides" and tune out the reasons why they should vote at all.)
