To all the public employees out there.....THANK YOU. While we were sleeping, you were heading out to brave the elements. And while we enjoy a snow day at home, you are working long hours for humble pay to keep our roads safe and our cities moving. You deserve your pension payments; you deserve your benefits; and you DON'T deserve the blame for our state's budget issues.

I'm sick & tired of listening to a bunch of "entitled" people whine about government employees. I, for one, am glad they're working for me. It's the "privatized" employees that have a major attitude problem, most of the time.

My mother is a public servant, I dug her car out this morning because she had to report to work...her day has mostly been to pick up the phone when people call complaining about being "plowed in" and other gripes on days like today...
My neighbor is also a public servant, been working and on call away from home since about 6AM yesterday. His wife has a heart condition, and they've got 2 small kids @ home, so I helped move some snow for them today as well.
I also know of other public servants who while not at the office today are certainly "on the clock" - need to keep track of projects and other work done...otherwise they'll have to burn a vacation day, or take an unpaid day off (aka furlough).
So many thanks indeed.
